What is the maximum epoxy layer depth for a single pour?
Each type of epoxy can support a layer size of certain depth:
UltraClear bar and table top epoxy: 1/8 of an inch maximum. This epoxy is self-leveling and is only meant for flood coating and seal coating. It's not intended to fill significant gaps or to level open spaces.
UltraClear deep pour epoxy: 2 inches thick maximum. This epoxy resin is meant for deep pouring and allows for up to 2 inch thick layers to be poured in a single attempt. If you'll need multiple layers or are unfamiliar with using deep pour epoxy, we recommend sticking with one inch layers.
For each additional deep pour epoxy layer, wait 12 hours after the previous layer, then pour your next layer at up to one inch thick. You can repeat these one inch layers every 12 hours until you've reached your goal.
Coloring the epoxy prior to 2" pours are recommended. To keep the clarity without coloring the epoxy, we recommend pouring in 1" layers every 12 hours.
Note: If you pour a layer that's thicker than these rules, you're much more likely to have avoidable issues like air bubbles or incomplete curing.
