How to apply table top epoxy resin
Here's our five-step process to applying table top epoxy resin:
First, gather what epoxy you need.
You can use our UltraClear bar and table top epoxy for most epoxy projects.
- Make sure to order enough for a seal coat and a flood coat.
- Note: You will lose about 30% of the epoxy going over the edge to coat the sides unless you have a raised edge all the way around.
Second, apply a seal coat of table top epoxy.
- Follow the directions in the link above.
- Note: Make sure you wait four to ten hours before moving onto the next step (flood coating).
Third, pour a flood coat of table top epoxy.
The flood coat is a relatively simple process. You can find detailed
instructions for table top epoxy here.
Fourth, pop any air bubbles in your flood coat.
- Use a propane torch or a heat gun.
- Keep them a few inches away from the epoxy and never let the flame touch the epoxy.
- Move smoothly and consistently—don't pause or linger for more than a second to avoid damage.
- This step only takes a few minutes. Just cross back and forth over the area with heat until you've cleared the entire surface.
Fifth, allow it to cure for 72 hours.
- And that's it. Each order of our table top epoxy will come with a complete, detailed set of instructions for this process.
