Deep Pour Epoxy vs. Bar & Table Top Epoxy

Not all epoxy projects require the same type of product. Some projects need a durable coating over the surface, while others require a thicker pour to fill depth, gaps, voids, or river table sections. That is where the difference between UltraClear Deep Pour Epoxy and UltraClear Bar & Table Top Epoxy becomes important.

The main difference comes down to pour depth, surface durability, and how each product is meant to be used.

What is Bar & Table Top Epoxy?

UltraClear Bar & Table Top Epoxy is our strongest and most durable epoxy system. It is designed for surfaces that need a tough, long-lasting, glass-like finish.

This epoxy self-levels to 1/8" thick, creating a smooth, seamless coating across your surface. Once cured, it provides excellent scratch resistance, durability, and a high-gloss finish that enhances the look of the surface underneath.

Bar & Table Top Epoxy is the best choice for projects that will see regular use, including:

Bar tops

Table tops

Countertops

Desktops

Wood surfaces

High-traffic or frequently used surfaces

Because it is our most durable epoxy, Bar & Table Top Epoxy is ideal for surfaces that need to hold up to everyday wear while maintaining a clear, glossy appearance.

What is Deep Pour Epoxy?

UltraClear Deep Pour Epoxy is designed for thicker pours, voids, river tables, molds, and deep sections that require more depth than a standard surface coating.

Deep Pour Epoxy should only be used for pours that are at least 1/4" thick. It can be poured up to 1" deep in a single pour and can be built up to 6" total when applied in 1" layers every 12 to 24 hours.

Deep Pour Epoxy is an excellent choice for:

River tables

Wood voids

Thicker casting projects

Deep molds

Embedded objects

Projects requiring pours of 1/4" or thicker

Deep Pour Epoxy is made for depth, not as a thin surface coating. If it is applied too thin, it may not cure properly.

Should Deep Pour Epoxy Be Used as a Final Top Coat?

No. Deep Pour Epoxy is not intended to be used as the final protective coating on a high-use surface.

If you are using Deep Pour Epoxy to fill a void, river section, or deeper area, we recommend finishing the surface with UltraClear Bar & Table Top Epoxy. The Bar & Table Top Epoxy adds the durable, protective, glass-like top coat needed for regular use.

This is especially important for tables, bars, countertops, and other surfaces that will be touched, cleaned, or used frequently.

Final Recommendation

Use UltraClear Bar & Table Top Epoxy when you need a strong, durable surface coating for a bar, table, countertop, desktop, or other high-use surface.

Use UltraClear Deep Pour Epoxy when your project requires a thicker pour of at least 1/4", such as a river table, wood void, mold, or deep casting project.

For projects that include both a deep section and a finished surface, use Deep Pour Epoxy for the deeper area, then apply Bar & Table Top Epoxy as the final protective top coat. Both products serve an important purpose, but they are designed for different stages of the project.
